I bought this car for close to nothing to give it to someone to drive, knowing it has p0016 and p0017, which cannot be fixed unless you remove the motor and get in there to change the plastic gear. I have driven many of them in the past without issues. This one was great and I was getting the intake manifold runner code as well, which also wouldn't cause the car not to start, especially when warm. Cleared all of them now I have p335 Crankshaft position sensor, which I believe can cause the no-start or random start then shuts off. P16 and p17 usually come back in a few minutes but I have driven the car several times and these codes do not cause the car to just go off on its own while parked and running, which is what is happening now. If I leave it for 30 minutes to cool off it will start and I go park it to another spot and it shuts off and wont start again until it's cold again. Can you give me your opinion please?

I changed the coolant sensor in back and I may have disconnected the Crankshaft position sensor to get more room but am sure I plugged it back. Can you tell me how many pins that sensor has? Checked it again and was loose, tightened it up and now it stays on linger then all of a sudden shuts off.

Hi,

When it fails to restart, are you getting an RPM signal? Have you checked to see if it has both spark and fuel?

Take a look through this link and let me know if it mirrors what you experience:

As far as the connector is concerned, it should have three connectors. See pic 1 below.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
