My friends truck is leaking coolant where the oil pan is in between the engine and the tranny. I'm lost at why it could be leaking coolant from there instead of oil. I have not done anything to it yet I wanted to ask first for any idea of what it can be.

Can you tell if coolant is draining down from higher up? Can you get a good look at rear of engine block above the trans? If not it sounds like it is the freeze plug at the rear of the engine.

Here is a guide to help you see what removing the transmission will be like.

Please let us know what you find.

I think its dripping from up top. no i cant get to the rear of the engine block but do you know if its possible for coolant to be leaking out from back there? Is there a seal back there or something? I will start removing the transmission to replace the freeze plugs if I find nothing else.
