I just fixed my thermostat and I wanted to do a complete flush of the coolant system. I drained the radiator overnight. Then I filled the reservoir with product to flush the system. I added about 1.75 gallons of water. I stopped there because the reservoir was overfilling at this point. I bled the line from the bleed holem. But for some reason the reservoir stays full. I ran the car for about 8 minutes and the water was squirting out from the top hose of the reservoir.

Then I attempted to drain the radiator but nothing came out. I can hear water in the hose that goes to radiator and from the radiator if I sneeze them.

How come nothing's coming out when I drain it? I should let you know that before I started this I was able to drain the radiator overnight just the night before.

Hi,

That is certainly odd. Do you have the radiator cap removed? Does any coolant come out?

Since you flushed the system, there could be debris clogging the drain. Fully remove it to see if anything comes out. If nothing does, take something to probe into the outlet and see if there is a blockage. If you do this, be careful not to damage the radiator by pushing too far or hard.

Let me know.

I was trying to avoid trading removing the radiator. I'm not that good at being a mechanic.

Is there a way to put coolant directly into the radiator in my car?

Hi,

The radiator itself doesn't have a cap, as you are likely aware. Do this. There should be a bleeder on the coolant outlet at the front of the engine. See pic 1.

I would suggest placing a hose on it to direct the coolant away from the engine. It should be a 1/4" hose.

When the engine is cold, open that bleeder and pinch off the hose in pic 2, and try filling the coolant. Continue filling until a steady stream of coolant comes out of the bleeder.

Let me know if this helps.

Joe

I did this already still same issue. I let the car run up to optimal temperature then tested again nothing's coming out of the radiator is that normal but the reservoir is still overflowing at the upper hose once it starts to get hot.

Hi,

No, that isn't normal. Did you pinch off the hose that ruins between the two sides of the coolant reservoir? Also, if you fully remove the drain on the radiator, does anything come out?

Let me know.
