Would you be able to tell me if I could use a c6 out of a 96 f250 and make it work in a 77 f150? Both are big block 4x4's. Is there a difference?

There is bit of difference. Newer trucks require more information from other sensors such as engine coolant temp sensor, and such for proper shifting and operation. Older transmission worked primarily just on fluid pressure. Check around the net for any info specific to your concern.

96 ford's don't use a c6 anyhow, you need one from a compatible year like yours you can use a 2wd and replace the shaft with a 4wd shaft
