Vauxhall Antara- two months ago clutch suddenly failed on motorway while at a constant of 65MPH for an hour. The whole clutch system was replaced then last week on the same journey suddenly went again same conditions and same place it was again completely replaced.
It’s still not right on a journey that was approximately 45 minutes at a constant 70MPH the clutch became ‘spongey’ and low down and unable to change gear, I pumped the clutch, and it allowed me to change gear but had to put a bit of effort into i.
Only does it on where the clutch isn’t used on a journey for a period of time but on ‘normal’ roads the only issue (if it is an issue) is it takes a quite a bit of effort to get it into first gear.

Hi,

First, this vehicle isn't offered in the US, so I have very limited specifics on it. However, I will try my best to help.

What you described sounds like either a failing clutch master cylinder or a failing slave cylinder on the vehicle. Were those components replaced with the mechanical portions of the clutch assembly?

Also, in many cars, there is a clutch fluid reservoir located under the hood and mounted to the firewall. Normally, it will be located near where the clutch pedal push rod would go through the firewall. Check to make sure the fluid is full.

Let me know what you find. Also, check to confirm the aforementioned components were replaced.

Take care,

Joe
