Heater problem
1999 Citroen Xsara Front Wheel Drive Manual 60000 miles

Hello

My heater blower is not working. I hadn't used the car in a while as I was traveling abroad and when I came back the blower was not working at all.

I checked the fuse and it is fine. I also checked the relay and it appears to be working as I can hear the clicking noise. I also checked the voltage across the blower motor and it is zero which indicates the fault lies somewhere else.

On reading the haynes manual, the wiring diagram shows there is a resistor and a rheostat in the circuit but from what i've read, if there is a fault with this the blower would still work but only on one speed.

Do you have any ideas what the problem may be and how I can fix it?

Have you tried checking/cleaning/replacing the electrical contacts-part of the ignition-key-lock. You can replace only the contact part if you want (maybe score one on a scrapyard). Worked for me on the same car model. Contacts may burn in or cause bad connections (now it works - now it doesn't) after a few years. Took me total 20 min. Removing and installing again. Cleaning took about 45 min.

Good luck!
