1990 Chrysler Van

Our battery keeps loosing it's charge. I can run to the store and by the time I get out my battery is dead. I think something in the car is draining the battery. My husband thinks it is from using a casette to cd adapter. Is that possible. I've only used the adapter a couplie of times and the last time was two weeks ago.

Hi Teresa:

I doubt that a cassette / cd adapter would kill the battery that quick. If it drains that quick, it sounds like a short. It could even be a bad diode in the alt. I suggest that the vehicle charging system be checked first. Where I live, Auto Zone does it for free. If you don't have an Auto Zone near you, I'm sure there are other national auto parts stores that will do it for you.

Let me know what you find out, and we'll go from there.
