Once in a while (a week or two apart), when the key is turned, nothing happens. All power is there, jumping doesn't help. Dealer replaced starter, but it happened again. However, several hours later, the car starts fine and runs for another week or two.

Can it be the alarm system, disabling the ignition system?

If it is, what can be done to shorten the time before it can be started and reset the system? Disconnect the battery?

If the security light stays on, that could be the problem, but you would need a dealer to diagnose where the problem is. However, if the light isn't on, can you tell me if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine when it doesn't start.

Dealer said there were no codes captured in the system to indicate the security system had disabled the ignition. Power is good to all systems, but there is not even a clicking sound when the key is turned. Each time it has happened, if a few hours (not sure exactly, but would guess 3 or 4), the system resets and everything is fine again.

Ideas?

Did they replace the starter relay? Also, is there a security light that comes on?

Not sure on the relay switch. Will check my invoice, but they said they replaced the starter. Do you mean the ignition itself or something else? No security light was on that anyone noticed.

Thre is actually a starter relay. It is located in the power distribution box under the hood. If it's bad, it won't start. When you locate it, check for another relay in the box with the same part number and switch them to see if it makes a difference.

Let me know what you find.
