I turned on my car this morning and the engine was idling extremely roughly, the engine light was on, and I could smell gasoline. I put the car in drive to get it back in the garage, turned it off, turned it on again and got the same awful thing. I had a new transmission pump, oil change, and new spark plugs about 400 miles ago. No idea what this is, but plan to have the car towed monday morning. Need to decide whether to take it to the dealer (20 miles away), or my local mechanic (3 miles away). Any idea what this might be? Anything related to the new plugs?

Nope. Got rid of the van! My car was towed 2 or 3 times in 3 weeks for this problem. My mechanic couldn't get it to repeat and so couldn't fix anything. Had it towed to the Chrysler dealer (20 miles away) and they found nothing wrong. This van was starting to cost me a lot of money this year, transmission pump, etc. Plus, with kids in school 20 miles away I needed a reliable car.

We traded it in for a 2010 Ford Flex. I feel like a queen - love my new Flex!!! Get 24-26 mpg highway, 19-21 combined city/hwy. My 2003 Chrysler was at 16 combined city/hwy and 22 hwy only.
