2002 Chrysler Town and Country 43000 miles

My van, out of the blue, won't start. When I turn the key in the ignition, the engine clicks rapidly, the display comes on, and the gauges go all the way to their maximum and then back down. We've tried jumping the van, but it didn't take. What's our problem?

Rapid clicks indicate low battery power. But that doesn't explain why it wouldn't take a jump. Verify that your battery terminals are free of corrosion and are tight. Once they are, re-try the jump start. If that fails, remove the battery from the vehicle and have it load-tested at your local parts store. If the battery fails, replace. If the battery is good, re-install and make sure the connections are tight and free of corrosion. Re-post if the that doesn't do it.

Thanks for the suggestions, Zach! We ended up getting the van towed to our mechanic and getting the battery replaced. No idea why the jump didn't take--we'll be cleaning the terminals like you suggested if this happens again.

Thanks again for your help!
