Tires and Wheels problem
2002 Chrysler Town and Country 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

I am trying to change the brake pads on my T&C but when I get it up on jack stands and remove all the lug nuts - the wheel won't come off. It won't even budge. I was pulling so hard on the wheels the whole car started shaking and I was afraid it would fall off the jack stands. I've never had this problem removing a wheel to change a tire or service the brakes before. Is there something to do with the AWD system I have to do before I take the wheel off? I have tried front and rear wheels and none of them will even pretend to come loose.

Put one lug nut on loosely, then give the tire a good boot!

I tried that. I was kicking, pounding, yanking and pulling on the wheels so hard the whole car was shaking and I was afraid it was going to tip over the jack stands and fall. All 5 lug nuts were completely off and the tire was definately clear of the ground and the wheels wouldn't even wiggle. Its like they were welded on or something. Very frustrating! I noticed alot of rust around the edges of the brake discs - could that be a factor?

Yes, the rust is holding it on, try this: Put the lugs on finger tight, put van on the ground, then shake the H_ ll out of the back, you will hear them snap loose, spray some penetrating oil on!
