I had a P0601 trouble code (PCM internal fault condition detected, or PCM memory check sum error) and replaced my computer. Within a week, the same code came back and I returned the unit and got a replacement under the warranty. What could be causing the code? I don't want to go through this again. There are no other codes if a sensor had a short, wouldn't a code show up for that?

I got the PCM through Autozone and they supposedly flashed the computer with all the necessary information, it is supposedly ready to install. On the installation instructions that came with the replacement PCM, which probably are generic, it says the PCM rarely fails unless something has put an excessive electrical load on the unit. They say to make resistance checks on each circuit controlled by the PCM, test all solenoids for shorts or defects. Do I need to do this, and if so, what should the proper resistance be?
