Engine Performance problem
1996 Chrysler Town and Country Automatic

Hi I have a 1996 town and country lxi. My car was working fine but I wanted to check the fuses. I took out the starter fuse and the fuel pump (while the car was running) and the engine stopped. I put back the fuses and the engine will now not start at all. Not sure why? Any suggestions on what the problem may be? Thanks.

To check the fuses, you need a test light and pulling the fuse may cause a lot of problem specially if engine running

1st let check all fuses, get a test light with key on engine OFF check fuses
good fuse should have power on both sides, bad fuse have power on one side and not the other
i think we have a video showing how to check the fuses

Thank you for your response however I already did check all the fuses - maybe I should of stated that in my initial inquiry. Any suggestions on what the problem may be or what I should do/check besides the fuses? By the way where is the alarm fuse located? And do you think that maybe the alarm shut off the starter and fuel pump? Also where is the main shut off switch for the alarm?

Disconnecting fuses while engine running may cause computer problem
let try this with key on do you have a check engine light on and if not recheck fuses and suspect PCM
relays all under the hood by the battery
you can mark them and switch them around

also try this reboot the BCM
have one of the windows down
disconnect the battery
wait few minutes
place key in ignition and turn it on
close door
reinstall battery terminal
try to start

let me know

alarm is it an after market system?

There is no check engine light on but all other lights work - I think the problem is with the fuel pump and starter/ignition fuses in the main fuse panel? Is that possible? Ideas?

When 1st key on you should have a check engine light on if not
PCM is not being powered up (bad : fuse, relay, PCM, wiring )

With ignition off, press and hold TRIP and RESET buttons while turning ignition switch to ON position. Continue to hold TRIP and RESET buttons until odometer window displays CODE (approximately 5 seconds). If problem exists, system will display diagnostic trouble codes.
Watch if check engine light come on and then off

locate ASD relay under hood mark it and switch it with a similar relay

The fuse block is behind the end cover at the left side of the instrument panel. Pull the cover straight away from the instrument panel for access to fuses. A Power Distribution center, for circuits that operate only under the hood, is located in the engine compartment. An identification label is located on the underside of the cover.
