Last year I had some new keys cut for spares for my car. These are grey in color, they are the transponder type of keys. I re-programmed the keys and they start the car as they should. My problem started when the car alarm remote had a dead battery and I couldn't unlock the car door remotely. No problem, I thought. I'll just use one of my keys to unblock the door. To my surprise, none of my keys will open the car door, but all will start the car. Do I need to get the black key to:
Unlock the Door and start the car? Will it have to be the transponder type. If so, I would need to re-program the 'new' keys using TWO good keys, but I don't remember the sequence to reprogram keys. Can you also provide instructions to re-program the keys?

If none of your keys will open the door (including your original key - not the copies), you may have copied the valet key. The valet key will start the car but won't work on the door. What you can do is go back to your local Chrysler/Dodge dealer with proof of ownership to the vehicle, they can cut you a new black key to the door. If you so choose, they can cut a gray key that will work on the door and ignition, but that one will have to be program to work the ignition.
