I have 01 sebring couple 3.0L and after the car has sat for a while (cold) I start it up and the car idles normal then drops to almost stalling for a split second. Then when the car heats up its fine. It has been running really rough at low speeds (shakes and has no power till I step on it) but when I reach highway speeds its fine and smooth. I change the oil regularly use Mobil 1 10-30w synth. I have taken apart the intake and cleaned it all the way down to the valves, I cleaned the IAC, and throttle body. Also the EGR valve. I am going on a long road trip and want to know why my car is all of a sudden doing this and sounds really loud when I drive. Manifold gaskets are new also. Also when car first starts up cold it makes a loud gurgling noise if I put it in reverse or drive, usually have to let it warm. I have already serviced transmission and no slips also

You can try a self-diagnostic test. To activate self diagnostic program:

With the ignition switch in the OFF position, depress the TRIP and RESET buttons.
While holding the TRIP and RESET button turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Continue to hold the TRIP and RESET buttons until the word CODE appears in the odometer windows (about five seconds ) then release the buttons. If a problem exists, the system will display Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's). If no problem exists, the code 999 (End Test) will momentarily appear.
Post any codes that appear.

Today the weather is perfect 81F and about 20% humidity. I took the car to walmart and it seem to run perfect. I am wondering if maybe wet or humid weather could cause car to run rough, has not stalled at all but just sounds like crap. I have just about changed all gaskets and new wires and plugs, timing belt ect. I am at a loss on what it could be. I thought paying for an answer will get a fast reply. I have all day tomorrow to figure this out and have a long road trip so I hope someone can help me out

If the built in self diagnostic didnt work, try the two number technique, turn the ignition key from off to on three times, on fourth time, leave key on, any codes that way? Or you could drive to Autozone, they read codes for free by plugging into the cars computer. Post any found.

There were no codes found. Anyway I fixed the issue couldnt wait for an answer from this website. So I just did it my self trial and error and figured it out. Thanks for nothing. I know how to read codes and not all computers pick up every little issue. And any moron can go to autozone and get a code read for free and figure out how to fix something. What a waist of money paying this site for an answer. Again thanks for your speedy reply

Thanks. Try to keep in mind, not all people that use this site have much knowledge about cars, or what steps to take when they have trouble, so the first step is to read codes and freeze frame data.I'm glad you did figure it out.
