My 1996 Sebring LXi will not pass smog due to a functional Check failure. Smog place told me that it could be due to my cars computer needing an update. It appears that the cars computer is not holding the memory. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causeing this problem?

Thanks

Car need to be driven up to a 100 mile or so after disconnecting battery and or clearing codes
