I swapped 2.5l engine and transmission from a 1997 Cirrus to a 1996 Sebring convertible. They were both running properly when I removed them. When I try to start the Sebring now the engine immediately takes off toward redline. I shut it off immediately to avoid damage. I checked throttle linkage, changed throttle body, changed computer, and it still does it. I can disconnect the throttle body and it still does it. Any ideas?

Hi packrat98,

Try closing the throttle body opening and see if the problem occurs when starting. The only possibility I can thinnk of is excessive vacumn leakage into the manifold. By closing the throttle opening and if the problem still occurs, it would eliminate the throttle body and confirm a vacum leakage.
