Engine Cooling problem
2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser 4 cyl Automatic 107271 miles
I was just involved in an accident and took my car to a auto body repair shop, I was told that they had installed a defective radiator and they would install a new one. When I received my car back I noticed that when I was on the freeway my car would make a loud noise almost like a lawn mower whenever I accelerated. My check engine light was on but the repair guy told me the check engine light was on because of the wires. I checked the oil it seemed fine. The more I drove the car the worse it would sound then it started to cut off on me. I would have to turn it off then start it again. The last time the car started smoking and would not turn back on. I put water in the car and more oil and let it cool off. I was able to get a few blocks but the car over heated again. I was told by someone that my radiator fan is not turning when it should to keep my car cool so the engine is basically overheating and cooking the water I put into it, and told me that I would probably pay $1400 to $2000 to get it fixed?!?!?! I can start the car now but I'm afraid to drive it anywhere, does this sound like I need a new radiator or what could be the problem and if it is the radiator does it cost $2000 to repair?
