The car ran low on fuel with fuel light on. After being driven to get gas the car wouldn't start once gas was put into the car. Do you think it is the fuel filter. It will run when you spray starter fluid into it but once it burns off it shuts off.

Do you hear the fuel pump come On? If so do a fuel pressure check to rule out the pump, and if not you have a power problem to it.

How do I do a fuel pressure check? I turned the key forward and didn't hear the pump go on. Thanks for your quick reply. It is my Dad's car and he loves it even though it is old. Is the fuel pump under the car or under the hood because when I looked under the hood I didn't see it. My expertise is surveillance cameras and electronics but with help I can find my way around the car to fix it. LOL

It has power going to the fuel pump. I replaced the fuel filter. When I turn the ignition on/off/on/off/on the bell rings 6 times does anyone know what that means.

It has power going to the fuel pump.

If it has power it should have turn On for a few secs sounds like its gone.

Power it from the battery and see what happens.
