Can you turn the engine over by hand?

Does the starter sound like it hits the flywheel teeth but just cant turn the engine over?

I'm trying to help you, but you are not giving me enough information.

You have not said what is not happening the second time you try to start the car.

Either the starter does nothing, or the starter tries to turn the engine over, but cant.
