1996 Chrysler LHS Idles too hogh
Engine Performance problem
1996 Chrysler LHS 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles
I have a 96 chrysler lhs. Once I start it up it idles very high. If I take it out of park then it drops. It runs at 45 mph without applying the brakes. I've have some front end work done, motor mount replaced, and trittle sensor and no change in results.

Sounds typical of a vacuum leak. Look for broken / disconnected / brittle rubber or plastic vacuum hoses. Pinch the large hose going to the power brake booster and cruise control servo. Intake manifold gaskets can crack and sections will get sucked into the engine. When the engine is still cold, run it and spray water around the hoses and gaskets. The engine will slow down and suck the water in when you hit the leak.
