Has the check engine light come on? Also, have you checked to see if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine when this happens?

This is a question for you, Moparman. I'm in the process of purchasing a 1994 Stealth. It's nothing fancy, the 3.0L SOHC. THe seller said he was driving it a short distance, heard a ticking sound comming from the lower end of the engine and then the car lost power. I never heard it run, but he says it sounds like it's running on two cylenders. If a rod or main went out, the engine would continue to run until it left go not cause a miss. The only thing I can think of is a head gasket allowed coolant to enter cylenders and perhaps bending a rod.

I've worked on Chryslers all my life, but I never played around too much with the Mitsubishi engines. Have you had any experience with them, if I swap out the intake and exhaust manifolds will any of the 3.0L from one of the Chryslers work or is there something different (which I doubt).

If you have any suggestions or input, I would appreciate it. It is ment to be a project car for me and my son to work on together, but I don't want to get burried in bills for "special" parts only for that car's engine.

THanks.
