I just got this 1984 Chrysler Lebaron a couple weeks ago from an older woman. My brake lights were working, then my fiance noticed one brake light was out. So I went a few days later and found out they all went out. I was told it was a Brake Light Switch but is that right? Someone else told me it was a fuse. Well I replaced the fuse and still. Nothing. My brake lights only work with my lights on, I turn my lights off and you cant see when Im using my brakes. Why wouldnt they work without my lights being on?
Please help!

If the brake lights only work when the headlights are on then it could be caused by a bad ground wiring at one of the tail lamps or at the headlight switch in the cab. Are you sure the brake lights are working when the headlights are on, or is it just the taillights coming on? If they brake lights are not working at all then the brake switch is the probable issue, if they are working with headlights on only then brake switch is not at fault.

My fiance and I checked, and the brake lights only work when the headlights are turned on. If they are turned off the brake lights dont work. They are blinker/ brake light combo, I can use my blinkers but the brake lights dont work. Its odd.
