For the computer to relearn, the car needs to start. After starting, the check engine light will flash for about 10 seconds. During this time, the computer is doing its job. After that time, the light should stop and go out. If it doesn't, you need to have the computer reset.
If you are getting no power to the coil, recheck your connections. Make sure all wires are tight, and make sure the wiring harness at the computer is tight.
