Engine problem
2003 Chysler Grand Voyager Two Wheel Drive Automatic 97000 miles

The timing belt broke in my 2.4L DOHC engine and I changed it being careful to line the marks on the camshafts and the crankshaft. The engine will not start and when depressing the accelerator, the sound from the exhaust sounds like light misfires or out of time. However, it will not fire at all.

Any suggestions on what I may have not done correctly or should have done. Is it necessary other than to line up the marks to make sure the number one cylinder is at top dead or when the marks are aligned, that covers that.

Thanks

If your timing belt broke, there is a good chance that theres been damage done to the valves. Mine slipped and I damaged three valves. Sounded like a mack truck when I started it and it would conk off. Yould need to check for compression. Also take your valve covers off and peek at the valve springs see if anything looks funny. One off the springs popped off of mine thats how I new to check the valve and sure enough it was bent. I'm in the process of finishing mine up.
