MY VANS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT ACTS LIKE IT DOESNT WANNA SHIFT ITS IDLES AT NORMAL RPMS IN NUETRAL BUT WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE AND GIVE IT GAS IT RUNS AT 3000 TO 4000 AND HIGHER DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH GAS YOU GIVE IT I HAD METER PUT ON IT AND THEY SAID THE EGR VALVE WAS GOING BAD COULD THAT BE THE PROBLEM OR IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE I SHOULD CHECK

When you said "meter", did you mean code scanner? If it is, please post the code numbers. I believe you have more problem than just the EGR.

Please re-scan the computer. You need to scan for engine and drivetrain codes.

The first se of codes I gogt was 12 45 and the 55 and the second set I got was 12 then 55

12 is beginning of the test and 55 is the end. So all we have to worry about is DTC 45.

DTC 45 means that transaxle fault present in transmission control module. Your van has gone to "limp home" mode to prevent more damage to the transmission. Usually, limp home mode can be repaired by replacing the input and out put speed sensor, transmission control module and/or transmission solenoid pack, in order. But you may want to get in touch with a shop that deals with Chrysler transmission for a closer look and opinion.

You may start with the input and output sensor. They cost abour $20 a piece. If that doesn't work, you have to replace the TCM. That would be about $150 roughly.
