I pulled into traffic and gave the car a good push on the gas. The car started to chug and stutter. I pulled over and then noticed the engine light is lit up. I turned around and went back home. The car now starts up fine but the engine lite remains on. Do this light indicate it is time for service, or is there a bigger problem? I have not driven the car since this happened a week ago. I only go and start it up and move it a couple feet each day so it dosen't freeze up. Also is it ok to drive it into a shop, or should I have it towed. Thanks for your help Tom.

Lets try and get the codes
cycle ignition key on off on off on read P codes in odometer area
let me know what you have
in most cases you should be able to drive to shop with out any problems
if check engine light on and flashes should have it towed
let me know what you have for codes best of luck
