1998 Chrysler Cirrus Automatic 97400 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My car has been having quite difficulty lately. While driving it sometimes shuts off for moments at a time and then jolts and acclerates again. Sometimes it won't start in the morning and I have to push the button under the hood for my fuel line to get it to start. And recently, my check engine light came on. No one seems to know what the problem is with my car.....

You have two part problem. The first one is shutting off and jolt, and sometimes won't start. That is more than likely your fuel pump is going out. Replace it. Should cost you about $200 for the pump assembly. It requires that you drop the fuel tank to do, so while you are at it, replace the fuel filter (about $25). And make sure that you have as little gas as possible before you begin the work.

The second part is the check engine light. You need to get that scanned. If you don't have the scanner, most part stores will do it for free, and get back with the code numbers.
