1995 Chrysler Cirrus

I have a Chrysler Cirrus 1995. I am very perplexed. Some days I turn on the Air Conditioner and it cools very well for a short trip. Other days I turn on the AC and it only blows warm air. When it does work, I can be driving along and the AC just stops cooling the air. I am going crazy, because I can't decide what is causing this intermittent problem. I was going to take the car to a Chrysler dealer, but then it worked and cooled the car the day I was going, but the next day it did not work again. The fan works very well, but it is just that the AC does not cool somedays, other days it cools, and when it does cool, sometimes it just starts to blow warm for no reason at all on a trip, and sometimes it can go back again to cooling. Please someone tell me what is going on.

Had the same problem. It turned out that the clutch on the compressor was not turning all the time. Sometimes the compressor clutch would turn and other times not. I went to a Chrysler Dealer and they installed a new compressor and clutch. That is all a combined unit, so you can't just replace the clutch. Now the air conditioning is running great, and cooling great in the hot weather. The repair will run you about $800, depending on the cost of the compressor plus labor to install.
