I have a 1999 Chrysler 300M 3.5L V6 93k miles

When I turn on the cruise control the green cruise light comes on in the dash but when I try to set the cruise nothing happens no matter what I do the cruise won't set and after about 30 seconds the cruise light will go off and I can't turn it back on unless I turn the car off and restart it. Either way the cruise will turn on but it won't set. Please help. Thanks.

Im pretty sure that is a cable operated system. Pop rthe hood and be sure everything is hooked up and plugged in properly. This might require some electrical diagnosis, so check all fuses first. PM me back

Well I checked all of the fuses and plugs and everything turned out OK, but the cruise control still doesn't work. I don't know what to do. Someone mentioned a brake switch but gave no details. I don't know what it could be. Please help.

Go to this link

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/mitchell1eautorepair-car-repair-manuals

Then go to "Accessories and Equipment" in there you will find the cruise control all wiring diagrams and a trouble tree to follow for your exact symptoms.
You can test the brake switch
pedal depressed- continuity between terminals 1 & 2
Pedal up- continuity between terminals 5 & 6
