During a flood water got in the engine and the engine cut out. The mechanic says the small engine block has cracked. I drove through water and the car had stalled I tried to start it again it wouldnt start and the car was pushed out of the water. Considering there was no other damage to the vehicle I find it hard to believe that the water pressure from trying to start the engine cracked the block and not the piston rods.

It most likley bent a rod and not cracked the block. If you hydro locked it it is most liley going to need some serious repairs. Pull all the spark plugs out of the car and disconnect the coils and fuel pump relay/fues and crank the engine over to get the water out of it. Instal a new set of plugs and try and start it up. If starts it will most liley knock really bad.

That was my thoughts as the rods would go 1st before cracking the block but he insists the rods are not damaged I'm very suspicious.
