2007 Chrysler 300 Engine shuts off when second key is used

Recently purchased auto and when we use the second key (actually wifes key) to start car, car shuts off before you can even take it out of park. After a few trys it doesn't spark at all. We are assuming anti-theft device is shutting car down, but doesn't make sense as this was the key issued with the car. The key seems to be the issue but no one seems to have heard of such a thing before and am wondering if others have had problems.
