my heater does not blow hot air

it takes water to make heat. is the radiator full ? next can you feel the top radiator hose get warm? next while it is running squeeze the top radiator hose does it feel like there is a lot of pressure on it? no pressure could be t-stat stuck open. where does the temp gauge run?
