truck wont start

89 chevy c1500 with a 5.0 engine what it is doing is acting like its 20 below zero cranks but very very slow changed starter and checked all wires if it dose start runs fine but dont turn it off you wont get it started again also have a negative wire off battery that go to the fire wall that gets red hot could this b a battery problem??

One of our other moderators was advising to check between the radiator and A/C condenser, ther , if this is the problem you will find a blanket of road grime! get rid of that and it should solve the problem. Use compressed air, not water! water turns it to hard pack!

Either, you misplaced your response to my problem or your Clown icon is somehow connected to the answer you gave me. Your response would be like saying the problem is probably in the glove compartment. Look there for the answer. PS. In a recent visit to a Certified Mechanic, he concluded the fuel pumps are old and weak in their pressure and are the likely casuse of the problem. About $400 worth of work and parts (for each tank)!

Thanks for the inult and go ahead to the certified 800.00 repair! Did ya even take a peek? That at least would be free...I am not saying it's not the pumps, however both at the same time is a bit odd...

Find out exactly what's the purpose for that wire-it should not do that. Investigate-negative battery goes to the engine or the alternator bracket.
