92 Chevy Cavalier runs hot

I have a 1992 chevy cavalier 4 cylinder 4 door and it runs hot especially in the summer and especially when I run the A/C. It's been to the shop more than once to be checked, they can never find anything obviously wrong, so I'm confident that the radiator is fine, however, one shop did remove the thermostat which helped to a degree. I have since replaced and removed the thermostat myself and currently it's removed since it does seem to run cooler without it, but not cool enough. I have had this problem off and on since I got the car, but I really started to have problems when the fan quit. Mine has two fans, the normal one on the back of the radiator and a secondary mounted on the front, which is the one I had to replace. When I tried to find a new one, none of the auto parts stores had one (I did not try a Chevy dealership) and had to buy a generic auto fan that I had to cut the blades on in order to get it to mount properly. The fan runs fine, it was checked by a mechanic, but ever since the car has run hot. I realize maybe the blades are too small now, but it's in the original mounting bracket so they are the same size roughly as the original. When I was trying to find the fan a clerk from one of the stores came out to look at what I needed and told me they had nothing like that and to go to one of their competitors for the generic I eneded up getting. He said it looked like an aftermarket fan that had been factory installed, said it was very strange to him. He told me he had a 93 cavalier that always ran hot and that for some reason all 92/93 cavs have a tendency to do so. He tried repalcing everything, even the radiator and nothing worked. He told me to be very careful because he eneded up overheating and blowing the engine. That was over two years ago and it hasn't overheated yet but it's come very close. As I say, none of the mechanics that have checked it can find any reason for it. Has anyone else heard of these models running unusually hot, and what if anything can be done about it. This is driving me nuts, I appreciatte any advice given (other than the obvious-GET A NEW CAR! Lol.) Thanks-Duke.

Sounds like the fan replacement you did has increased the heat in the system. Could be that that fan turns a little slower, who knows. I would first see if I could find a new correct fan. Junk yards can be useful, but remember the fans you get from them are 14 years old for your car.
I would atleast call the dealership and see what a fan costs, then go to www. Gmpartsdirct. Com and see if they sell your fan. If you cant find it, email them and give them make model and VIN number and ask if they have a part number for you to order one.
You will probably find that a new fan will help some, but it sounds like that model may have had a flaw in the design of the cooling system.
Give your local dealership a call and see if they have any kind of recall or mod for that engine.
As for your overheating problem. What are the symptons? Does it creep up slowly? Does it get hot to start with, then cycle down a bit then go back up? Are you having to add fluid?
