i have a 1992 chevy k series 1500 pickup. the truck has 190,000 miles on it but i rebulit the engine less than 200 ago. my transmission started to make very quaint strange noises which i guessed to be just an old truck. one day i started the truck put it into drive and it made it about 100 yards and stopped moving. my rpms reved but no movement. the only gear that works is reverse any other gear just doesnt engage. do i need a new transmission? anh around how much does a rebulit one cost? (i'm only 17 and money is quite a factor)

Had the same problem before, I completely rebuilt, My engine as well. Had my tranny do the samething, What has happen, From all the torque youre new motor has, Causes the youre old tranny, To have to work harder, Of course its older, In time its gonna fail, You could either get a used tranny from the auto wreckers, For $250-$450, Or a rebuilt from shop $700-$1000,
