the speedometer on my 2003 chevy 2500hd duramax truck is not working. do i have to replace the whole instrument cluster?

I have a 2003 4X4 6.6 3500 57000 miles, Went to a dealer and they told me that i would have to replace the total cluster. I filed a claim with GM maybe you should do the same. Call the Customer Service Center. I am going to another Service Center today and hope that someone there knows what to do.
