Fuel filter/ have the fuel pressure checked, sometimes if the regulator pops it will run the pump at higher press causing it undo wear

not sure what was going on but I just Changed the fuel filter on my truck I remove the fuel pump relay to releave pressure when I went to place the relay back and noticed it was installed backwards along with the AC,DRL,and horn relays? So my real QUESTION is why would these things continue to work through the coil but I have to wait till morning to see if this fixed my idling problem

double checked the wiring diagram and relay, the coil pins run diagonal so it would not go through the coil it was just the pin numbers for the switch were not in the correct postion! Still having idle problems only in the morning and sometimes it dont start on the first crank. How can i check for a leaky fuel injector without a gauge I think if it was the fuel pump at high RPMS the truck should sputter or back fire or something?

Sometimes the pump simply wont hold pressure in the system, so when you go to start it cold it needs to buid up press to run the engine
