2000 Chevy Venture, brakes

There has been a loud noise coming from my back brakes, and my husband finally fixed it. It was the wheel cylider. After he replaced it, he went to bleed the brakes, it would not let him bleed the brakes. Anyone know how to go about that?

How did he try to bleed them?Did he gravity bleed them. Or did he bleed them with the pedel? If you want to know the procedure here you go.
First make sure the bleeder valve is closer, then pump the brakes. Hold the pedel down and open the valve, (the pedel should drop), now close the valve and release the pedel. Repeat until all air has been removed. Also make sure the master is full of brake fluid during the bleeding. To verify that all the air is removed, pump the pedel (with the engine off) it should become very stiff with little to no travel.
