Hello I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe with 125000 miles. It recently developed a misfire in cylinder 8. Last time I had a misfire in cylinder number 5 so I changed the wires and plugs and away went the problem. That was around 30000 miles ago. It was only occuring under a load, pulling a boat. Now cylinder 8 misfires once I have been driving for about 10 to 15 minutes and continues until I shut it down. It is more prone to doing it at slower rpms. I have changed the plug but not the wire. Could it be the distribuor or rotor? Where should I start? Thanks for your help.

Since you have changed the plug the next step would be the wire. If it checks out OK just keep working up the line. Sooner or later you will hit the problem if you just go step by step down the line.
Patience and persistence should get you to the root of your problem. Good luck.

I decided with 125000 miles it was time to change the rotor and cap. I changed both of them and in the process found that I did indeed have a bad wire on the 8 cylinder. I had purchased a set of Autolite professional series in 04 with a lifetime warranty so they replaced them for free. I am now back up and running trouble free... or at least for the moment. Thanks for the help. Best of luck to all of you.
