I have a 1999 Chevy Cavalier with about 84000 miles. After driving the car for about 20-30 minutes, the check engine light comes on and the car starts to get "jumpy" and tries to die until I give it a lot of gas. I had the fuel filter replaced and the problem still existed. I had the fuel pump replaced and the car was driven for about an hour with no problems. Then suddenly the check engine light came back on and the car tried dying again until I gave it a lot of gas. What else can I check? Please help.

there are a bunch of things to check but run to the store and get a code scanner and when the check engine light comes on it creates an error code and the scanner will tell you what the problem is for easier troubleshooting..... once you got the code post it back here and we can help you further....good luck :)

I had a computer scan the engine and the code came back that the Throttle Position Sensor is bad. Does that sound like it could be what is causing my problems? Is it fairly easy to replace?

Thanks.

Did you ever solve this problem? I have a 99 Cavalier Z24 that does the same thing and gives the "Throttle Position Sensor". I have replaced the TPS 2 times but I am still getting the same problem and code. Was it the PCM?
