1998 Chevy Truck Four Wheel Drive Automatic

hey i got a 1998 chevy 2500 4x4 with a 6.5L deisel engine and i lent the truck to a family member and they stoped at the station they usally do and the attendent put gas in it rather then deisel and not knowing my uncle jumped in my truck and went on his way and about a mile down the road the truck powered out finally and quit on the side of the road after it quit he turned it over till the batteries were pretty much completley drained so i had it towed back to my house and after finding out that there was gas in it by looking at the bill i pulled the gas tank andd drained it then changed the filter and blew air down the lines along the frame after getting every thing back together i added some deisel about a quarter tank and tried to start it i have been bleeding air out of the top of the filter cartridge and dont think there is any more in the lines or system due to when i crack the black valve on top of the fuel cartridge only deisel seems to come out. but it still wont fire really i can get some smoke out the exaust if i am lucky but not all the time. what else can i do before i have to give in and get it towed to the local shop

You can try checking your glow plugs, the gasoline like ether may have burned them out when they were trying to start it with gasoline in the lines. Actually gasoline will run in a diesel, my old army truck with a multi-fuel. And I could run either gas or diesel.

But we did not have all the complicated filters as today that recognizes gasoline as water. My newer army truck will only run on diesel.

If you have any more questions let me know.
