Has it had any other problems? My family had a 98 tahoe that did the same thing, and after a bunch of tests and mechanics scratching their heads it turned out to be an ignition wire in the column. Ive heard of blazers having a similar issue. The tahoe would only do it every once in a while, but it scared the poop out of you when it did it. I dont know how to test it to see if thats the problem or not. Just sharing a lttle bit of experience with you, and maybe itll give you a place to start.

I also have a 97 s10 blazer and I have had plenty of problems with it. When mine stalled the rpms kind of surged for a little bit then it stalled. If yours is doing that you may want to check the ignition coil.(I believe thats what its called) I changed that and it ran fine. Now im having oil pressure problems. Good luck with your blazer :)
