has it had any other problems? my family had a 98 tahoe that did the same thing, and after a bunch of tests and mechanics scratching their heads it turned out to be an ignition wire in the column. ive heard of blazers having a similar issue. the tahoe would only do it every once in a while, but it scared the poop out of you when it did it. i dont know how to test it to see if thats the problem or not. just sharing a lttle bit of experience with you, and maybe itll give you a place to start.

I also have a 97 s10 blazer and I have had plenty of problems with it. When mine stalled the rpms kind of surged for a little bit then it stalled. If yours is doing that you may want to check the ignition coil...(i believe thats what its called) I changed that and it ran fine. Now im having oil pressure problems...good luck with your blazer :)
