My wife was driving it yesterday and something popped in the rear end. When you give it quite a bit of throttle it sounds like gears slipping. It won't do it in reverse, or in 4 high. If you take off easy it does just fine. I took the cover off and all the gears look fine. Do you think it could be an axle or an axle bearing? Any ideas would be great. Thank You It has 150,000 miles on it.

Could be axle but sounds more like the housing that holds the spider gears is cracked. Jackup the truck take the cover off and turn the tires and keep an eye on the housing the crack could be a hairline crack and hard to see. I have run a cross this many times.
