I have a 1995 chevy 1500 1/2 ton. 350 v8 5.7L. It's freshly rebuilt and everything works. It ran about 2 days ago but even then the started didn't want to seem to work half the time. Now it won't even engage or work

Is the starter spinning and not engaging with the engine?

Well i figured out the problem. The flexplate and the starter bendix are not lining up correctly. The flexplate is too far towards the transmission and hits the metal nose cone of the starter. The flexplate is on correctly (I checked and checked again) and I have the right brand new starter.
