fuel filter and fuel pump have been replaced but now the truck when it comes to stop ,I give it gas and it stalls.I start it up and it sounds like if its flooded,it then sputters ,puffs some smoke until it idles fine and then take off after 3 to 5 attempts. The truck does better when its cold .

Is the service engine soon light on? This is possibly a vacuum leak, get a can of spray gumout, spray the vac lines and maniflod area, when the idle changes, youve found the leak! You want the engine running and spray on the outside but do direct the stream onto the hoses, if it is a vacuum leak, the engine idle will change speed, then you have detected a leak, repair the vacuum leak and see how it runs!
Also you might want to check the idle air control valve, it's bolted to the throttlebody, and whe was your last tune up?
