I have a 1994 cheve truck I want to put a later model 5.3 motor in it.I was told that the motor mounts were the same and there was an intake I could put on it to use my throttle body off the 1994 motor. What kind of intake is this? And also if I wanted to use the vortex they said I would have to change my wiring harness in the truck is this the only way to use the vortex? How hard is it to change the harness? Thanks john

The 5.3 and your existing engine share nothing in common for the most part. You will require a custom ECM and wire harness, transmission controller/harness (if automatic), flexplate and spacer (if automatic), engine mount adapters, fuel system upgrade, and front end accessory drive components. Many of these items are available from the aftermarket such as www. Hotrodlane. Cc. This will be a pretty in depth swap, why a 5.3L and not a 88-95 or 96-00 350 swap?

I am not aware of a TBI intake for the LS series engines (doesn't mean there isnt though). GM sells a TBI to Vortec intake, but this is referring to the Vortec heads used from 96-00, not on the LS series engines.
