1994 Chevy Truck catalytic convertor

Engines chokes up and catalytic convertor gets red hot. Prior to this a starter was installed, positive cable for battery was replaced, and gas filter was replaced after trouble started

If the cat is glowing red chances are there is a restriction in the exhaust system. Most of the time it is the catalytic convertor that needs to be replaced. A way of testing this would be to remove the exhaust before the catalytic convertor. Note it will be loud and is not recommened to drive around. If symtoms go away work your way back from there
