hello------I was missing the water drain valve for the filter mounting plate so the local dealer sold one to me . It is the same thing as the air bleed plug. They say they are the same plug but I can't get it to fit in the hole. It seems too big for the hole.

Before I noticed it missing I was able to start the truck but after a few minutes disel was running on the ground. thats how I noticed it was missing

thanks

Did they ask for the 8th digit of the vin# on the truck? If not you may have the wrong part. There are 3 series of Duramax engines, each is slightly differnet than the previous

hello---the eighth digiti is C . I was hoping to figure it out without going back to town.

I was using a chilton manual #28624 fig. 40 p.1-15

according to them..... the water drain valve and the air bleed are interchangeable?

I can see the hole using a mirror and dexterity. Its right below where the one bail wire end fits into the monting plate.

sometimes they dont chamfer the edge of the hole and it makes getting the new one started difficult. Try calling them to verify correct part # for your engine

hello------I ended up taking it in and mechanic fixeda pinhole leak in a fuel line going into the filter. Two different chevy dealers showed a different fuel filter on their microfiche than the one I had in my truck. So even though my VIN was provided it didn't help me cuz I thought mine was missing the water drain valve. Mech said my type filter doesn't have a waterdrain.

anyways 110$ later its fixed and running.

where do I get the correct parts numbers and diagrams of what goes where.? Our dealers are not a help.
