Engine Performance problem
1989 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 189,+ miles

Replaced pcv or egr valve on left side carburetor to engine valve cover, just has metal tube from carburetor to engine on right valve cover. Engine seems to runs great rpms in park but idle is rough, but take off stalls, hesitates like wont take gas, chokes up, runs very slow at first, then runs better after 30 to 45 mph. problem acts like automatic choke stays on and the engine surges while idiling. Could Problem be carb or fuel pump???? or What???

Hi, my info shows TBI not carbed? Is the fuel system, factory? How long since a tune-up? Use a gage and check fuel pressure.

you might want to check your throtle positioning sensor if it chokes out when puting it in gear .... in the haynes maule it will tell you what ohms its sappose to be if its working or not and then check the resistance whitch will be in there too.
